Job Description

Truro Pediatrics Clinic is seeking a 0.8 FTE Pediatrician for a Maternity Leave from January 12, 2026, to January 12, Join Nova Scotia's thriving healthcare ecosystem, where your expertise is valued and your contributions drive innovative, compassionate care for generations to come.

Responsibilities

Duties include full scope of practice as a pediatrician providing care to patients within the Northern zone and participating in call.

The physician will be responsible to the Zone Department Head of Women and Children's Services for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.  

Our department is full-service Pediatrics, and does require neonatal resuscitation and stabilization for transport, which at times can happen quickly and other times could be up to 24 hours. It also covers consults in the ER including attending trauma with pediatric patients. Pediatric primary care is primarily done by family physicians in the community.

  • Provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level health care. 
  • Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority. 
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities. 

Expected Hours

  • Commensurate with 0.8 FTE
  • on call (1:4)

Remuneration

  • Remuneration amount - $343,521 annually based on a 1.0 FTE

Colchester East Hants Health Centre 

Colchester East Hants Health Centre opened its doors to patients in 2012. Located in Truro, it serves as the main acute care facility for the residents of Colchester and East Hants Counties, serving a population of approximately 75,000. Rooted in community support, the health centre has 122 inpatient beds and offers a wide range of inpatient, outpatient, and satellite services. 

Qualifications
  • All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS). 
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or proof of alternative coverage.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support(BCLS)
