Senior Front-End Designer

Location: Remote (within Canada) | Occasional travel to Alberta

Start Date: May 1, 2026

Duration: 12 months (extendable up to 24 months)

Employment Type: Full-time Contract

Key Responsibilities

Design and deliver evidence-based, user-centred interfaces for public-sector digital platforms.

Develop wireframes, prototypes, and design systems that align with Government of Alberta (GoA) digital standards.

Conduct usability and accessibility testing (WCAG 2.1+), including test planning, execution, and reporting.

Collaborate closely with service designers, developers, and product owners within agile delivery teams.

Maintain and evolve component libraries and documentation for design system governance.

Present design rationale, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership teams.

Security Clearance – Mandatory

Must pass a Criminal Record Check before onboarding.

Depending on project assignment, Enhanced Security Clearance or RCMP Top Secret Clearance may be required.

Candidates must be eligible and willing to obtain the required clearance.

Failure to meet clearance requirements will result in disqualification.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.

Minimum of 7 years of experience in front-end/UI design for large-scale or public-sector digital products.

Expert proficiency with Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or comparable design tools.

Demonstrated expertise in responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG), HTML/CSS, and agile methodologies.

Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Assets

Experience designing for government or enterprise-level platforms.

Familiarity with GoA Digital Standards and public-sector design frameworks.

Experience in usability research, design system governance, or content design.
