Job Summary
Tru-Way Machinery Manufacturers Ltd. is seeking an experienced Millwright / Fabricator with a strong background in sawmill machinery, fabrication, and welding.
This is not an entry-level position — we are looking for a hands-on professional who understands sawmill operations, can interpret and work from mechanical drawings, and take the lead in fabrication, installation, and maintenance of custom equipment.
You will play a key role in supporting our projects, from design to installation, ensuring all mechanical systems operate safely and efficiently.
Duties
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs of sawmill and lumber processing equipment.
- Fabricate, weld, and assemble custom parts, frames, conveyors, and machine components.
- Interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematics accurately.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, mechanical, and power transmission systems.
- Lead or assist in the setup and alignment of motors, shafts, bearings, and conveyors.
- Supervise or mentor junior staff and ensure safe work practices are followed.
- Collaborate with the engineering and fabrication teams to optimize machinery performance.
- Conduct on-site installations and repairs as needed across client facilities.
- Install, align, and assemble machinery using schematics and technical manuals
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment including boilers, HVAC systems, and other industrial machinery
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues utilizing analysis skills and technical knowledge
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Millwright / Fabricator (preferably in a sawmill or lumber production environment).
- Proficient in welding (MIG/TIG/Stick) and metal fabrication.
- Strong understanding of sawmill layouts, conveyor systems, debarkers, saws, and material handling machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, bearings, sprockets, shafts, and general machine assembly.
- Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for field work if required.
Additional Qualifications (will increase starting wage):
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Licensed Millwright
