At the Abbotsford Division of Family Practice, we are a collaborative community dedicated to supporting family physicians in Abbotsford, BC. We work closely with the Primary Care Network (PCN), Fraser Health, Doctors of BC, and local clinics to strengthen the delivery of team-based care across our community. Our communications efforts play a crucial role in engaging members, increasing awareness of initiatives, and supporting system-level improvements in primary care.
We are currently seeking a Communications Coordinator to support our communications strategy, enhance member engagement, and help tell the story of the Abbotsford Division in meaningful and impactful ways.

What Does the Communications Coordinator Do?
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing clear, engaging, and strategic communications that reflect the collaborative and community-focused nature of the Abbotsford Division.
As an independent contractor, you will support content development, strategic messaging, digital/print communications, and member engagement initiatives. You will work independently while collaborating closely with Division leadership, project leads, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Development & Strategy
- Support the development of communications materials including website content, newsletters, posters, handouts, reports, and digital assets.
- Help execute communications strategies aligned with organizational goals and key messages.
- Assist with maintaining the Division's website, updating content, ensuring accuracy, and improving navigation and user experience.
- Draft, edit, and proofread written materials for print and digital platforms.
Member & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support communication initiatives that enhance engagement with Division members, partners, clinics, and community organizations.
- Assist in promoting events, programs, and initiatives through multi-channel communications.
- Maintain an understanding of member needs to inform content development and communication planning.
Digital Communications
- Manage and update Division social media accounts (as applicable), ensuring messaging aligns with brand standards.
- Track communication metrics and member engagement levels through analytics tools.
- Ensure divisional materials meet accessibility, branding, and style guidelines.
Operational Communications Support
- Assist with planning and disseminating internal and external communications.
- Help coordinate announcements, campaigns, and strategic messaging related to PCN, PMH, and Division-led projects.
- Maintain communications calendars and support project timelines.
- Support the creation of reports, summaries, and evaluation materials that highlight successes and outcomes.
Event & Project Support
- Assist with communications needs for Division events, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
- Work collaboratively with Directors, project leads, staff, and external partners as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
- Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a communications, marketing, or content development role.
- Demonstrated ability to write and edit for web, print, and social media platforms.
- Strong storytelling skills with experience developing clear, engaging, and audience-focused content.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is an asset.
- Experience using content management systems (CMS), email marketing tools, or analytics platforms is an asset.
- Knowledge of the BC healthcare system or experience working with physicians, healthcare providers, or non-profit organizations is preferred.
- Cultural awareness and competency.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and virtual meeting tools such as Zoom.
Work Environment & Remuneration:
- Contract Type: Full-Time Independent Contractor (1-year agreement)
- Compensation: $87,500 – $103,000 annually (contractor rate; inclusive of all expenses, time away, and overhead)
- Benefits: Not provided (contractor is responsible for their own benefits, insurance, and statutory contributions)
- Work Schedule:
- Occasional meetings outside regular hours may be required
- Hybrid work model available
- Number of in-office vs. remote days is negotiable.
