Job Description
What is the opportunity?
The Balance Sheet Modeling team is responsible for developing advanced quantitative models that simulate the Bank's balance sheet, optimize funding strategies, and assess liquidity and interest rate risk under forward-looking scenarios. We are seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist to design and implement predictive and time-series models that simulate the Bank's financial position under a range of macroeconomic and business environments.

The successful candidate will bring a strong set of quantitative and programming skills, coupled with deep understanding of balance sheet dynamics, asset-liability modeling, and banking products, with a proven ability to translate complex financial concepts into robust quantitative models.

What will you do?

  • Build and maintain predictive and time-series models to forecast balance sheet dynamics, including personal and commercial deposits, loans and other key treasury positions.
  • Develop scenario-based simulations to assess balance sheet dynamics under various macroeconomic and regulatory conditions (e.g. stress testing, IRRBB, liquidity).
  • Source, clean and transform large financial and behavioral datasets from internal and external systems.
  • Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to identify drivers of balance sheet behavior and customer dynamics
  • Partner with Treasury, Risk, Finance and Business Units to gather assumptions and integrate model outputs into planning and decision-making.
  • Develop scenario analysis capabilities through simulation to assess the impact of economic and rate shocks on the balance sheet and net interest income.
  • Translate complex balance sheet behaviours (e.g. prepayment, deposit decay, reinvestment strategy) into quantitative modeling frameworks.
  • Ensure models meet internal governance and external regulatory standards, including documentation, validation and audit readiness.
  • Monitor model performance and enhance methodologies to reflect changes in the economic environment and banking behaviour.
  • Provide technical leadership to junior analysts and collaborate with model validators and other stakeholders.

What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Python or similar programming languages for data analysis and model development.
  • Hands-on experience with time-series modeling (e.g. ARIMA, VAR), machine learning models (e.g. random forest, neural network) and Monte Carlo simulation framework.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial institution, preferably in corporate treasury, ALM, risk management, interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and behavioural modeling.
  • Expert knowledge in survival analysis modeling frameworks and working knowledge of Monte Carlo simulation.
  • Solid understanding of bank balance sheet structure, interest rate risk, liquidity risk and behavioral modeling.

Nice to have:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex material to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g. IRRBB, Basel III) is a strong asset.

What's in it for you?
