JOB OVERVIEW:
We are seeking an Outside Sales Representative who is experienced in developing lasting relationships with both independently owned businesses and larger multilocation chains.
Our Sales Representatives work directly with independent pet retailers to secure placement and grow our representation, primarily through education and the development of brand ambassadors. A good candidate will have the ability to develop strong, long-term relationships with store owners and retail staff. Regular visits, training seminars, and thinking on your feet are vital to developing an account and territory.
The position is well-supported by our management, administration, and nutritional staff members; however, it will be essential that the candidates be self-starters who can work independently and as part of a larger team.
This position requires between 60% - 70% travel, and the territory will include the lower mainland, as well as parts of Vancouver Island and the interior.
Most of our representatives average 8 – 10 overnights each month.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
We are seeking a candidate with 5+ years of experience in outside sales, a post-secondary education, and, although not mandatory, experience in the pet industry is desirable.
The individual should be skilled with computers for company and customer communication, sales reports, and additional administrative requirements. The primary programs used in this position include Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Public speaking is an important requirement of this position. The individual should be comfortable speaking with small and larger groups.
Remuneration:
Our compensation package will include a base salary, quarterly bonuses, and a company cellphone and automobile allowance. The sales representative will be reimbursed for travel expenses.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This position is home office based within British Columbia, but most days will be spent on the road visiting stores.
Some weekend work will be required for event management.
