Acclaim Health announces the availability of one (1) Casual Personal Support Worker position working Mornings at Patty's Place. The Individual will then be required to work Morning shifts (7:00am - 12:00/12:30pm). As a casual employee you are required to work a minimum of 5 shifts per month (or equivalent to 37.5 hours). This availability must include at least two (2) weekend shifts.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides homemaking and personal support services to individuals in shared care facility..
  • Provides personal care and activities of daily living to clients
  • Performs delegated tasks as directed and trained by a Care Manager, Health Services
  • Assists with meal preparation and feeding as required.
  • Assists/engages in therapeutic recreation and activities as appropriate during the client's stay in the overnight service area
  • Communicates changes in client condition or other complex situations to the Respite Coordinator
  • Documents information pertinent to the client's stay in overnight respite service.
  • Effectively utilizes recognized GPA principles, communication and behaviour management strategies for working with persons with dementia
  • Works in a manner that ensures client safety

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Personal Support Worker Certificate
  • Registered on the Ontario PSW Registry
  • Medication Administration course (will be provided)
  • Food Handling Certification (will be provided)
  • Certification in Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care (will be provided)
  • Valid Ontario driver's license, use of vehicle and insurance per the company policy.
  • Certification in Basic First aid including certification in CPR-Basic Rescuer.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in gerontology and working with cognitively impaired persons
  • Understanding and knowledge of dementia and age-related experiences.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

SALARY & COMPENSATION:

  • CA$ CA$23.39 per hour
