The Janitor is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents and ignites the warmth of human connection.
As a Janitor your typical day will impact the following ways:
- Clean snow and ice from entrances, walkways, and parking areas.
- Provide plant care / watering.
- Maintain sidewalk cleanliness using a blower.
- Perform garbage pick-up per assigned schedule.
- Ensure proper lighting and maintenance (e.g., light bulb changing) in the facility
- Provide proper plumbing care (i.e. toilette repair / plunging).
- Keep shelves stacked with supplies.
- Floor polishing or buffing and carpet spot cleaning.
- Providing housekeeping services in the resident care rooms and common areas in accordance with the established work routines.
- Providing personal laundry services for care residents in accordance with established work routines.
- Ensuring residents are provided with a secure living environment. This includes patrolling the building and investigating any building access violations in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Must haves:
- Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent.
- Building Service Worker Certificate, Institutional Aide Certificate and/or Basic Food Safe Certificate.
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check. Applicable to Ontario applicants.
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check. Applicable to British Columbia applicants.
