Position Title: Medical Office Administrator (MOA)

Qualifications:

· Graduate from a recognized office/business administration program is an asset. A combination of related experience and/or education will also be considered.

· Minimum of two (2) years of recent related experience providing clerical support in a health care setting is required. Experience with patient books is also an asset.

· Proficiency with Microsoft (word, excel, etc.), computers (data entry and keyboarding) is required. Previous experience with Med Access is an asset.

· Excellent organization, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills is a must.

· Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and accurately handle multiple priorities at once.

· Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team and seek guidance as necessary.

· Demonstrated compassionate care, dependability, reliability and flexibility is required.

· Demonstrated interest in ongoing professional development.

Position Description:

As a Medical Office Administrator (MOA) you will be required to perform the following duties in a professional manner while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality:

· Warmly greet, welcome and check in patients of all primary care providers within Harvest Tides Family Practice.

· Accompany patients to open exam rooms as deemed appropriate and assist patients with clinic navigation.

· Monitor exam rooms for supplies and restock as necessary.

· Assist providers with medical procedures by preparing trays, slides and or vesicles for specimen samples.

· Monitor EMR for clinic flow and update patient status

· Update and maintain patient health records while maintaining highest level of confidentiality.

· Schedule and coordinate appointments while maintain providers schedules and make changes as necessary.

· Process insurance claims and private billings in compliance with legal requirements.

· Use EMR to support all transactions and documentation; process invoices and send account statements to patients.

· Answer patient queries while maintaining quality, patient and family centered service.

· Answer multi-line phone system and direct calls accordingly.

· Adapt to change with clinic operations to continuously learn and strive for improved patient care.

· Follow clinical guidelines as established by Public Health and Nova Scotia Health.

· Report directly to Harvest Tides Office Manager.
