Job Description:

Under the direction of the Chair, Architecture, Construction and Civil, the Professor will be required to teach AutoCAD and Revit courses in the Architectural Technician and/or Construction Engineering Technician programs within the Algonquin Center for Construction Excellence. The Professor will be responsible for facilitating and guiding learning and providing an effective learning environment for all students.

The teaching of assigned courses, including:

• Delivery of regularly scheduled instruction in the Fall, Winter, or Summer terms in home department or across departments;
• Ensuring student awareness of course learning outcomes and evaluation techniques;
• Providing tutoring and academic advising for students both in and out of class;
• Providing a learning environment which makes effective use of available resources, including educational technologies;
• Evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student's work within assigned courses;
• The development and creation of a learning environment that is conducive to success for all students;
• Ability to illustrate clear instructions (verbal, visual or written form or any combination of);
• Providing constructive and supportive feedback to all student questions or queries received.

The provision of academic leadership, including:

• Participating in the work of curriculum and departmental/faculty meetings;
• Liaising with community members, engaging in program, Department, School or Faculty, and College promotion;
• Remaining current in the field of study and maintain awareness of emerging trends and practices related to teaching and learning in higher education;

Required Qualifications:

• Advanced Diploma (3yr) in Architectural Technology or Civil Engineering Technology;
• Min. 5 yr practical experience to field of study – Current industry experience using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM as well as experience related to residential and commercial construction methods and materials, workflow, working drawings production, coordination, and site reviews;
• Teaching experience is considered an asset, preferably in a postsecondary setting.

Assets Include:

• Experience with Autodesk Forma, Autodesk Insight analysis tools, Dynamo Automation;
• Sustainable construction practices: Passive House. LEED, Net-zero, etc.;
• Creating and implementing Dynamic blocks in AutoCAD to enhance productivity workflows;
• Creating and implementing Parametric Autodesk families in Autodesk Revit to enhance productivity workflows;
• Digital fabrication, 3D printing, Rendering experience.
