PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Unio Tech Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Documentation Specialist to support a special client project for a 4-month contract with the possibility of extension. This work involves the meticulous documentation of approximately 400 racks of equipment including detailed maps and drawings of all data connections in preparation for the racks to be moved to a new location. The candidate selected for the role will be the senior technician for the project and will report to the IT Project Manager.

JOB DUTIES:

Drawing & Mapping

  • Draw detailed diagrams of all 395 racks showing equipment locations and cable connections.
  • Create accurate visual layouts using Visio that our tech team can refer to with ease to complete the equipment disconnect (at current location) and reconnect (in a new location).
  • Preparing original drawings (not just editing templates) – they need to be accurate and customized to fit our client's needs

Labeling

  • Label all ports, cables, racks, and benches using TIA-606 standards
  • Remove old labels that don't match the new standards
  • Keep detailed records of all labels

Playbooks & Documentation

  • Create step-by-step playbooks for each phase of the move
  • Make checklists and audit forms to track work
  • Build reference guides for the team to follow

Technical Work

  • Use AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio to draw all technical diagrams
  • Make sure all drawings are accurate and follow industry standards
  • Organize and store all files properly

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in network infrastructure and IT support
  • CompTIA A+ and Network+ Certified
  • Certified Data Center Management Professional (CDCMP) or Data Center Operations Manager (DCOM)
  • Full comprehension of TIA-606 compliant labeling
  • Expert in Microsoft Visio
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Exceptional written communication skills
  • Meticulous, extremely organized and has a strong attention to detail
  • Takes initiative
  • Knows how to lead a team
  • Candidates with a Driver's License and a car are an asset
