Reporting to the Manager, Residential Legal Counsel, the ideal candidate will be an experienced lawyer/notary who is highly professional; client-focused; understands real estate conveyancing/title issues and routinely deals with complex real estate matters.Duties & ResponsibilitiesReview of title insurance orders for accuracy and quality controlAssist underwriters in the analysis of difficult or complicated files – review and analyze title opinions, title/off title searches and/or supporting documentation while applying the Company's underwriting principles and guidelinesReview private lender filesCommunicate with clients to explain policy coverage/answer challenging inquiriesPerform legal research, often national in scopeParticipate in the development and review of guidelines and proceduresDevelop and update internal and external educational materialsAttend real estate and title insurance industry functionsQualificationsLaw degree and member of the Law Society of Ontario (LSO)Minimum two (2) years of Residential Real Estate experienceUnderstanding of real estate conveyancing and real estate lawStrong verbal and written communication skillsTeam player who works well under pressure with minimal supervisionProven ability to develop working relationships at multiple levels of an organizationSelf-directed and motivatedStrong organizational and time management skillsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Willingness to work overtime when requiredFrench language is an assetAs an employee of Chicago Title, you will have the satisfaction of working in a progressive and diverse organization.
