Better Living Health & Community Services has an opening for the part time position of Meals on Wheels Driver. The Meals on Wheels Driver works from 11:30am-1:30pm, Monday to Friday and is responsible for delivering hot meals or frozen meals to isolated seniors living independently in the community. The Transportation Drivers reports to the Manager of Community Access and Maintenance.

The Successful Candidate for this Position Must Have the Following Qualifications:

  • Completion of Secondary School, minimum Grade 12
  • A minimum of 12 months of related experience
  • A current valid G-Class driver's license and clean driver's abstract
  • Own Automobile Insurance with a Third Party Liability is no less than $1,000,000 + vehicle.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance, including daily safety checks
  • Must have a vehicle in reliable condition
  • Must have an interest in and commitment to helping seniors and disabled
  • Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Screening within one month of employment

The Successful Candidate for this Position Must be able to:

  • To provide reliable and timely meal delivery to clients in the community.
  • To work cooperatively with a volunteer "runner" to verify appropriate meals are delivered to assigned clients in the community.
  • To act as both driver and runner when required.
  • Accurately follow outlined route sheet guidelines and instructions.
  • To serve as a link between the clients and the agency.
  • To report all changes in client or environmental conditions to Meals on Wheel Manager immediately upon return from the delivery route.
  • To conduct daily vehicle safety checks when driving a company vehicle.
