Happy in my Home (HIMH), Community Support Services of Niagara (CSSN) is currently seeking Brokered Workers (individuals and/or companies) to provide residential food preparation. Happy in my Home is a volunteer based, not-for-profit agency providing comprehensive support services to older adults and adults living with disabilities to live independently in their homes. Reporting to the program coordinator, the successful candidate(s) will perform food preparation.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes suitable for older adults.

  • Ensure dietary restrictions and food aversions are adhered to.

  • Ensure food textures based on client preference are adhered to.

  • Ensure compliance with health regulations and sanitization.

  • Proficiency in the safe use of power and manually operated equipment.

  • Deliver mutually agreed upon service and cost which is set by you and/or your company.

  • Only accept referral for services you can deliver.

  • Inform the HIMH program coordinator if there are changes to your availability.

  • Understand and comply with all relevant HIMH, CSSN policies and procedures.

  • Maintain client confidentiality.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum 6-month experience preparing nutritious meals.

  • Must possess culinary certificate.

  • Must possess current Food Handler certificate.

  • Strong culinary skills and creativity in utilizing ingredients available in client's home.

  • Willingness to teach clients to prepare their own nutritious meals with available ingredients.

  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check required.

  • Must possess a valid driver's licence and a minimum of $1 Million liability insurance.

  • Be a good listener and respect the needs, decisions, and rights of clients.

  • Be kind, caring and compassionate.
