1. Graduate of Community College Medical Secretarial program or equivalent
2. Medical Terminology relating to Laboratory Medicine
3. Demonstrated proficient keyboarding skills (60 wpm)
4. Demonstrated proficient computer skills in word processing, spread sheets and database systems, Meditech, Excel, Work, Windows 98, Outlook 2000
5. Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills within a professional environment
6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
7. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and establish priorities
8. Experience within a Laboratory environment a strong asset
9. Demonstrated knowledge of Peoplesoft System, and Internet design and maintenance, a strong asset

The Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) is a collaborative program funded and operated jointly by Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph's Hospital Hamilton. The Program is committed to change and innovation, through education, service and research, to bring the highest quality science into health care for the benefit of the community, and to participate in the clinical application and interpretation of the science.

The Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) Medical Secretary will provide administrative support for laboratory operations and professional staff. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to\: coordination of confidential medical reports, correspondence; participation in development of standard work, assist in the preparation of statistics, research papers for publication; prepare committee material, agenda development and taking minutes; administer and maintain financial records including travel expenses, professional staff educational trust fund, laboratory operations purchase orders and accounts receivable reconciliation; maintain a variety of databases; enter laboratory specimen information into Meditech database.
