We're looking for a
Risk Lead
who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients' business. Working with our client in an integrated project team you will have the opportunity to impact the transformation of major transit projects across Toronto and the outlying communities. Reporting to the Project Controls Manager you'll be accountable for ensuring the consistent application of the risk management process by both the Client Delivery Teams and the various embedded Risk Analysts. You'll also play an active role in process refinement / improvement and the development of detailed quantitative risk analyses (both cost and schedule) to support Client needs, including assurance of analyses produced by the embedded Risk Analysts. We'll rely on you to lead the application of the six-step risk management process including risk analysis, mitigation planning, and control and reporting.

In this lead role on the project, you will also interface with the Client's Corporate Risk Management function, resourcing, identification and application of relevant industry best practice, interface with other Project Controls Leads to ensure delivery of a holistic service to the Client and, where assigned, support the development of junior risk management resources. You'll be tasked with leading risk workshops and training, developing detailed quantitative risk analysis models, contractual risk-transfer strategies, and refining the risk management process documentation (QCRA & QSRA). Working together, we'll help you grow and pursue what fulfills you so that we can make impacts on the future – big and small, global and local.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Engineering, Construction Management)
  • At least 12 years' experience in a Risk Management related role
  • At least 5 years' experience in a rail transit / civil infrastructure / construction project context and/or a program management / project controls environment
  • Experience in a public-sector Risk Management role
  • Active member of the Project Management Institute
  • Relevant Risk Management qualification from a recognized Institution
  • Excellent MS Office skills – Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • Detailed experience using industry standard software packages and applications – Active Risk Manager (ARM), Primavera Risk Analyser (PRA), @Risk
  • The incumbent in this role is expected to have the experience and technical acumen to act as a counterpart to the Head of Risk Management when required in respect to Risk Team management matters and interface with the Client Senior Executive – Chief Executive Officer, Chief Capital Officer, Executive Vice Presidents etc.

  • Highly versed in risk management theory, principles and practice
  • Highly versed in broader project controls theory, principles and practice
  • Highly articulate with practiced presentation and facilitation skills
  • Excellent people skills and ability to communicate / interface effectively with Senior Executive Client resources (e.g. CEO and CCO) and external stakeholders (e.g. Government representatives)
  • Attention to detail
  • Demonstrable technical risk management acumen – including the building and running of detailed quantitative cost and schedule risk models and the interpretation of analysis results
  • Excellent writing skills with experience authoring technical risk management documentation – processes, procedures, plans and policies
  • Problem-solving ability and comfort working with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrable experience of reasoned decision-making in high pressure and paced environments
  • Ability to engage and influence a wide variety of Project / Program resources – including but not limited to, Engineers, Project Controls Professionals, Project Managers, Client Leaders and External Stakeholders.
