Your contribution

The Senior Network Administrator is responsible for deploying, managing and maintaining our network infrastructure to ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network technologies, protocols, and industrial control systems, as well as excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. They will also be responsible for providing technical support to end-users and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Your day-to-day

  • Install, configure, and maintain network hardware, software, and services (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, data gateways, data diode, data aggregator DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • Monitor and optimize network performance, availability, and security
  • Design communication of distributed systems, or critical industrial control systems environment
  • Design network architecture directly related to implementation practices such as layer 2 nomenclature, routing protocol selection, security protocols, and deployment models in industrial control system environment
  • Troubleshoot network issues and provide timely resolution
  • Create and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, policies, and procedures
  • Provide technical support to end-users and assist with network-related inquiries
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration of network infrastructure with other systems and applications
  • Manage network access and security, including user accounts, permissions, and authentication
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as ISO 27001, NIST, NERC-CIP

Your skills, our requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in network administration, preferably in an operational role
  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a combination of relevant education and experience 
  • Relevant certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, NSE, CCIE, etc. are considered strong assets
  • Knowledge or good understanding of:
    • Firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet, Watchguard, Palo Alto, etc.)
    • Routers (Cisco, Ruggedcom, etc.)
  • Layer 3 protocols (IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, BGP, IGP, IS-IS, L2/L3 VPN)
    • Network transmission (Unicast, Multicast, Broadcast, Anycast) 
    • MPLS backbone and related technologies such as MPLS-VPN, MPLS-TE, VPLS
    • Major protocols (Ethernet, MCLAG, LACP, PPP, PAgP ...)
    • Fiber Optics (SONET, MUX, Wavelength, Types of lasers, power budget calculation)
    • EIGRP, IS-IS, BGP, MP-BGP VLAN/trunking, QoS and MPLS 
    • Wireless networks HSPA, UMTS, LTE, 5G
    • Wifi networks equipments (Ubiquiti, Cisco, Fortinet, Watchguard)
  • Experience with network management tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, etc.)
  • Experience with network monitoring services (Armis, Nozomi, Claroty, Dragos etc.)
  • Good understanding of industrial equipment (RTU, IEDs, Relays, SCADA, Data gateways, DPAC etc.) 
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English required, French an asset)
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Experience in renewables or energy sector an asset

Additional considerations

  • The position is based in the company's Vancouver (BC) office.
  • This position requires participation in on-call 24/7 rotations .
  • This position is a P3 level.

Pay Transparency Statement

Compensation for roles at Innergex varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, and level of experience. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. 

In the spirit of pay transparency we are excited to share the base salary for the position is $87,000 - $110,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired by Innergex, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
