Maintenance Manager

SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE
Perform general maintenance work to ensure hotel maintenance quality standards are achieved and maintained and to ensure the smooth and profitable running of the property.
MAIN DUTIES
1. Assist with preventative maintenance and complete report work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, etc., to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard.
2. Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis.
3. Assist in checking electrical systems such as air conditioning controls, television sets, lighting systems, and make minor repairs and/or replacement.
4. Assist in checking and making routine repairs and assist on major repairs of all hotel equipment including small appliances, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, pool equipment, HVAC, hand and power tools and general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipe lines, toilets and sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment.
5. Maintain the building exterior and "curb appeal" (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting, gardening).
6. Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors windows and counters. Paint and finish furniture and fixtures if needed. 7. Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
8. Exposure to extreme temperatures.
9. Operation of heavy machinery.
10. Dispose of garbage.
11. Carry out maintenance duties allocated daily in accordance with departmental requirements contributing to the smooth running of departments and achieving guest satisfaction.
12. Assist with the testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting etc. on a routine basis. 13. Liaise closely with the direct supervisor regarding completion of work to minimize on "down" rooms and contribute to the overall profitability of the property. 14. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis. 15. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player.
2. Climbing, reaching, standing, walking and routinely lifting 25 lbs to 50 lbs. 3. Must be able to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act upon each accordingly. Be skilled in several areas such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.
4. Must be able to receive instructions and communicate progress of work assignments.
5. Must have the ability to communicate in English.
6. Always maintain a professional appearance and manner.
GENERAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To adhere to all matters relating to hygiene, health, safety, emergency procedures and the Property Crisis Communication Plan.
2. Greet or acknowledge all guests employing the Ten Foot Rule.
3. To carry out any reasonable request.
4. To provide exceptional customer service.
5. To work and communicate in a professional and ethical manner.
6. To be a "salesperson" by active promotion of property facilities and company/property specific promotions.
7. To assist with team member orientation/training within the department.
8. To maintain standards of punctuality, uniform and dress code.
9. To be aware of and comply with hotel policies and procedures.
10. To comply with WHMIS regulations and all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
11. To attend meetings as requested and to recognize the importance of contributing new ideas and initiative to the overall success of the operation.
12. To keep your work area clean and tidy.
13. To ensure the use of personal protective equipment as appropriate.
14. To contribute to the security of the building, company assets and guest/co-worker safety with full adherence to security procedures with proper handling of keys/cash as appropriate.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
