Structural Fitter

3D Mechanical is a leading custom steel fabrication company specializing in miscellaneous metal and structural steel fabrication.

We are looking for a talented, experienced metal fabricator to join our fabrication department. Wage is negotiable and based on the skills, knowledge, and experience the candidate can demonstrate.

We are looking for proven experience in fitting and welding structural steel components, such as pump skids, ladders, platforms, handrails, and staircases, in carbon, stainless, and aluminum. Blueprint reading experience is also an essential requirement of this job.

Duties

• Lay out, cut and fabricate structural steel, plate, and miscellaneous ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including mezzanines, staircases, and handrails.
• Assemble and fit metal sections and plates together to form complete units or sub-units such as frames, plates, girders and chutes that are used later in the assembly process.
• Fasten the fitted assembly completely by welding and bolting as required.
• Perform self-check method to ensure quality ("right-the-first-time").
• Use material handling and rigging, hoisting and lifting equipment to move materials and completed assemblies.
• Manage your time and work accordingly so that all assigned jobs are completed within the estimated time given.
• Weld products according to approved procedures and ensure internal quality measures are applied.
• Use tools and equipment such as saws, iron workers, plasma cutters, oxy-fuel cutting torches, grinders, and drills to bend, cut, punch, drill or form metal components.
• Read and follow welding procedures in accordance with testing requirements set out by CWB.
• Organize and maintain the cleanliness of equipment and the work area professionally and safely.
• Perform some lifting as required.
• Follow all safety rules prescribed by H&S legislation and 3D Mechanical .

Skills:

• Be able to visualize in three dimensions, have good coordination, mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity and the ability to perform work-related mathematical calculations.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Select the right materials for the job.

Qualifications:

• Red Seal Metal Fabricator (Fitter), or can sufficiently demonstrate equivalent experience.
• Experience with the fabrication of miscellaneous metals, including handrails, staircases, platforms, and catwalks, is required.
• Experience in structural steel fabrication is preferred.
• Experienced in GMAW, MCAW, FCAW and GTAW welding processes.

Licence/Certification:

• CWB Certification - Past or Present (preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 42 per week
