Over the years, CRIEC has successfully built a network of partnerships with employers, professional associations, community organizations, post-secondary institutions, and corporate champions. This collaborative approach ensures that our efforts are effective, relevant, and responsive to the needs of employers and the newcomers we serve.
About You
You are a thoughtful researcher and evaluator with a passion for advancing diversity and inclusion in the healthcare workforce. You excel at designing studies, analyzing data, and communicating findings clearly to diverse audiences. Collaborative and detail-oriented, you thrive in multidisciplinary environments and are motivated by CRIEC's mission to support internationally educated healthcare professionals in overcoming barriers to licensure and achieving meaningful employment.
Position Summary:
CRIEC is undertaking a multi-year project in collaboration with Bow Valley College (BVC) to provide a continuum of support for Internationally Educated Nurses to navigate the credential recognition and licensing process in Canada. The Research & Evaluation Specialist role focuses on the study and analysis of barriers facing internationally educated healthcare professionals, pathways to licensure and accreditation, and the impact of program strategies in streamlining these processes. The Research & Evaluation Specialist will play a key role in conducting research, collecting data, and generating insights related to the IEHP's integration into the Canadian labour market and the Alberta healthcare system. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the promotion of diversity and inclusion in the healthcare workforce.
The primary responsibilities of the Research & Evaluation Specialist are:
- In collaboration with BVC, design and implement research studies and explore key issues and trends in the integration of international healthcare professionals into healthcare systems.
- Update internal frameworks and evaluation systems ensuring that the IEHP evaluation framework aligns with CRIEC's internal frameworks.
- Collect and analyze data from diverse sources, including healthcare organizations, government agencies, and professional associations, to identify best practices and areas for improvement in supporting international healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare providers, policymakers, educators, and program clients, to gather insights, validate findings, and inform research priorities.
- Produce reports, presentations, and summaries that encapsulate research findings, recommendations, and implications for policy, practice, and future research endeavors.
- Support the development and implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing the recruitment, retention, and career advancement of international healthcare professionals, such as tool kit development, mentorship programs, training opportunities, and cultural competency initiatives.
- Lead evaluation processes and outcome measurement activities across all CRIEC programs, ensuring alignment with immigration trends, labour-market needs, academic best practices, and industry standards.
- Oversee the development of impact reporting tools and dashboards to demonstrate program effectiveness and long-term outcomes.
- Stay current on emerging trends, policies, and research in the field of international healthcare workforce integration, contributing to ongoing learning and knowledge sharing within the organization and the broader community.
- Participate in conferences, workshops, and other professional development activities to expand knowledge, build networks, and promote collaboration in the field of mentorship, job readiness and employer engagement.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in public health, health policy, sociology, anthropology, or a related discipline, with a strong foundation in social science research.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in fields such as healthcare research, workforce diversity, immigration, or international health (experience in these areas is highly desirable).
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including study design and data analysis
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills to synthesize and share complex findings
- A demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting internationally educated healthcare professionals
