Position Summary
The Community Care Worker provides direct, person-centered support to individuals in a residential setting.
This role requires strong communication skills and proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) to foster inclusive, supportive, and meaningful relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized support with daily living activities (dressing, grooming, hygiene, meal preparation)
- Assist with medication reminders/administration and encourage healthy routines
- Offer emotional support, companionship, and promote community engagement
- Communicate effectively using ASL and other methods to ensure understanding and inclusion
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all times
- Collaborate with team members and participate in training and development opportunities
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) — Required
- Experience in community care, residential support, or disability services — Preferred
- Understanding of person-centered support and respectful care practices
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment
- Emergency First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check (within the last 6 months)
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
