Position Summary

The Community Care Worker provides direct, person-centered support to individuals in a residential setting.

This role requires strong communication skills and proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) to foster inclusive, supportive, and meaningful relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support with daily living activities (dressing, grooming, hygiene, meal preparation)
  • Assist with medication reminders/administration and encourage healthy routines
  • Offer emotional support, companionship, and promote community engagement
  • Communicate effectively using ASL and other methods to ensure understanding and inclusion
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all times
  • Collaborate with team members and participate in training and development opportunities

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) — Required
  • Experience in community care, residential support, or disability services — Preferred
  • Understanding of person-centered support and respectful care practices
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment
  • Emergency First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check (within the last 6 months)
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
