Title and Summary

Vice President, Finance Business Partner, Canada Division Finance OfficerOverview:

Regional finance leader responsible for all financial aspects of the Business Unit and for partnering with the Canada Management Team in making key financial and commercial decisions. Responsible for broad range of financial activities including planning & objective setting, budgeting & forecasting, management reporting, regulatory and statutory reporting (where applicable), deal management (in conjunction with Deal Management organization, contract management, and financial controls.

Reporting relationship: CFO Americas and Canada Regional President

Member of the Canadian Leadership Team and Finance Business Partner to President Canada

Role:

  • Responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, development of consolidated information for the Canada market, expense management; reviewing and explaining significant variances; and, managing the coordination of results with Americas Finance
  • Lead the finance team in Canada, setting objectives, managing performance, and career development.
  • Manages the Deal Management process in Canada together with the North America Deal Management team, to optimize economics for Mastercard while ensuring that business cases for Customer Business Agreements with are financially sound, internal approvals documented, and contracts reflect agreed upon financial commitments. Participates in customer negotiations as needed.
  • Teams with the Canadian Leadership team to evaluate potential business relationships from a strategic & financial perspective, and to evaluate new growth areas from strategic, operational and financial perspectives. Participates In financial analysis and execution oversight of new ventures and acquisitions.
  • Works closely with the Canada Regional President and Canadian Leadership Team to drive long term strategy and growth
  • Drives efficiencies through process improvements
  • Works closely with North America Controller on complex Accounting & Reporting matters.
  • Understands and coordinates relevant tax and Treasury issues with Corporate Tax and Treasury teams.
  • Partners with Corporate and NAM teams to drive strong control environment and report on key enterprise and any financial reporting risks in the Canada market.

Experiences

  • CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • Track record building internal and external business partnerships; develops and leverages key relationships to understand the diverse needs and objectives of various stakeholders
  • Extensive experience modelling and performing predictive analytics to critically review and enhance complex financial and operational analysis and scenarios
  • Managed a diverse, multi-functional finance organization
  • Called upon to consult and provide advice and feedback to the business on risk and opportunity considerations, leveraging advanced analytical techniques as well as a knowledge of outside trends and events
  • Experience setting strategy for process improvement initiatives along with developing procedures for implementation
  • Demonstrated successful oversight of the management and resolution of high-risk issues to ensure completeness and efficiency
  • Successfully embodies change management; oversees corporate cultural initiatives, enhancing the support of an ever-evolving environment to fulfill corporate goals and objectives
