Department NameLab Assistant - Med Program Haematology Lab
The Laboratory Assistant mainly performs blood collection and research specimen preparation in the LHSC Verspeeten Family Lab Test Centre. There is some data entry required. This position collaborates with research staff, nursing and physicians in a professional manner. The position requires focus on patient and family centered care.
Regular Part-Time
Rate of Pay: $32.59 per hour - $37.26 per hour
Hours of work: Up to 22.50 hours per week
Qualifications- Certification as a Laboratory Assistant by the Medical Laboratory Professionals' Association of Ontario MLPAO or the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) for Medical Laboratory Assistant. CSMLS is preferred
- Minimum of six (6) months recent laboratory experience
- Recent phlebotomy experience
- Demonstrated computer skills with Windows based programs
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Demonstrated accuracy, proficiency and attention to detail
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload that is changing on a regular basis
- Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness
- Demonstrated manual dexterity required
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
