About SuOn Academy
SuOn Academy is an Ontario Ministry of Education–inspected private high school offering Grades 9–12.
In addition to our day-school programs, we offer community learning programs that provide structured academic support for younger learners in Grades 4–8. These programs take place on our campus and focus on building early literacy and communication skills.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Part-Time Reading & Writing Instructor to lead small-group literacy sessions for students in Grades 4–8. This role supports our community learning programs and helps younger learners strengthen reading comprehension, writing fundamentals, and communication confidence in a school-based environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead reading and writing activities using program-provided materials
- Guide students through structured literacy development tasks
- Support vocabulary growth, reading comprehension, and basic writing skills
- Encourage participation and maintain a positive learning environment
- Monitor student engagement and communicate with the program coordinator
Qualifications
Required
- Strong proficiency in English language arts
- Ability to work effectively with younger students (Grades 4–8)
- Clear communication and classroom engagement skills
- University students or graduates in English, Education, Linguistics, or related programs are welcome to apply
Preferred
- Experience leading group-based academic activities for elementary or middle-school learners
- Familiarity with early literacy development
- Experience supporting multilingual learners
