We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst. Reporting to the Senior Manager of the Enterprise Data team the Data Analyst will be responsible for designing and building business intelligence and data integration solutions.
Data Analyst - 12 Month Contract
How Does The Role Impact The Organization?
Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Enterprise Data, Data Analyst responsibilities include conducting full lifecycle activities including requirements analysis, data analysis, data modeling, design and development of reporting dashboards. Assists the business in turning data into information, turning information into insight and insight into decisions.
What Will Your Role Be Responsible For?
- Interpret business and data requirements after eliciting the problem that needs to be solved.
- Collaborate with team members of the Enterprise Data team to identify data sources and relationships between data sources that are required to solve the business requirements.
- Data mapping and data modeling.
- Compile documentation of requirements and data mapping;
- Design and develop PowerBI dashboards.
- Profile data sources using SQL and other data discovery tools in support of data quality analysis and business intelligence design efforts;
- Create detailed business requirements for functional (e.g., business processes, rules) and non-functional (e.g., data, security) capabilities;
- Partner with team members to develop project schedules, reports and documentation; and
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What Do We Expect From You?
- Proficiency in understanding and creating data models, data profiling, data mapping, data mining and data segmentation techniques.
- Proficiency in design and development of PowerBI dashboards based on best practice design principles and efficient data models.
- Analysis: Identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities; compare data from different sources to draw conclusions,
- Communication: Clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
- Collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate complex information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; recommend or take action that is consistent with available facts, constraints and probable consequences.
- Develop and use collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.
- Make internal and external clients and their needs a primary focus of actions; develop and sustain productive client relationships.
Education and experience:
- Diploma of Technology, Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Database design and development experience is an asset.
- Power BI design and development skills mandatory – minimum (3) years of hands-on experience
- Excellent SQL knowledge required.
- Experience in the financial services industry preferred but not required.
