Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Hand Supervisor - Red Seal Technician HET or Automotive Mechanic to join our small group. This role is pivotal in overseeing daily operations for our municipal fleet, ensuring high-quality repair and maintenance services. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, and a commitment to internal customer service ensuring the fleet is available and ready to serve the needs of our community.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the shop in the repair and maintenance of vehicles.
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on various vehicle systems, including automotive electrical systems, powertrain, alignment, and diesel engine repair.
  • Interpret schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex automotive issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices in the workshop.
  • Provide exceptional internal customer service to equipment users.
  • Assist in training new staff members on procedures, safety protocols, and technical skills.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, services performed, and parts used.
  • Oversee inventory management for tools, equipment, and parts necessary for vehicle maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Valid Red Seal certification as an HET or Automotive Technician is required.
  • CVIP certified preferred.
  • Experience working with a variety of equipment including heavy equipment, mowers, loaders, trucks, etc.
  • Strong understanding of automotive diagnostics and repair processes.
  • Mechanical knowledge encompassing various aspects of vehicle maintenance including auto body repair, welding, and alignment.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members.
  • Experience in using hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40.20-$49.43 per hour
