Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community.
Position OverviewJoin a team that empowers newcomers and strengthens community connections. As a Volunteer Support Worker, you will play a key role in engaging dedicated volunteers in Immigrant Services programs, supporting the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), and coordinating front desk assistance. Your work will help create welcoming spaces, meaningful experiences, and smoother integration for the individuals and families we serve
Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will help plan and deliver activities that support newcomer integration, develop program resources, and manage all aspects of volunteer engagement, including recruitment, training, supervision, and recognition. The role also coordinates CVITP, ensuring volunteers are properly onboarded and clients receive secure, high-quality service. In addition, the position oversees front desk volunteer scheduling and provides administrative support to ensure a positive client experience. The Volunteer Support Worker will build strong community partnerships, represent the organization at outreach events, and maintain accurate program data and reporting.
QualificationsThe ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience in social services, along with at least one year of experience supporting newcomers or vulnerable populations. They bring strong skills in program coordination, client-centered support, communication, advocacy, and group facilitation, with cultural competency and familiarity with Canadian systems. Experience working with LGBTQ2S+ communities, refugees, or other marginalized groups is an asset. A Class 5 driver's license, reliable vehicle, and First Aid certification are also preferred.
The role requires proficiency in data management and digital tools, including OCMS, iCare, and Microsoft Office, and the ability to apply equity, inclusion, and GBA+ principles to create welcoming and effective service environments.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
