Position Summary
As a Foreman, you will direct and drive work through our own forces and trade partners on site. You have a strong working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and practices and a solid understanding of how projects are built. You will bridge the gap between management and field, with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships and train our next generation of workers. This position has the potential for further growth with Ventana Special Projects.
As a Foreman your key accountabilities will involve:
- Coordinating and delegating tasks and responsibilities to site workers.
- Taking a hands-on approach to site operations, being on the tools, and supporting where needed.
- Interpreting and reviewing shop drawings.
- Understanding and driving the project schedule, key drivers, and critical path.
- Supporting the Superintendent's areas of responsibility including daily site reports, deviations from schedule, and other on-site activities.
- Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring that all procedures are followed and documented.
- Ensuring that quality standards are being met by completing inspections and tracking deficiencies.
- Supervising and mentoring site workers.
As a Foreman your success is dependent on:
- The ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced, deadline driven environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- The ability to build solid long-lasting relationships.
- The ability to anticipate problems and solve proactively.
- A high degree of professionalism and maturity.
- Strong time management skills, particularly the ability to prioritize a multitude of tasks.
- People management skills and growing your leadership skills.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, PlanGrid or SharePoint is considered an asset.
As a Foreman your experience and qualifications will include:
- A minimum Class 5 BC Driver's License.
- 5+ years of experience in construction.
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership role.
- 2+ years of experience working for a trade partner ideally in mass timber or structural steel.
- In-depth overall construction knowledge.
- Working knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations.
- Proven ability to deal with internal forces, trades, architects and engineers.
- Red Seal Carpentry ticket is considered an asset.
- Construction-related post-secondary courses are considered an asset including negotiation or mediation training, supervisory or management training, construction law or industry ethics training, Occupational First Aid, COR certifications, safety-based certifications.
- Relevant Machine and Safety tickets are considered an asset.
