SUMMARY:
Are you passionate about empowering youth and strengthening cultural identity?
Youth Worker supports the prevention program by creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for youth. This position provides mentorship, guidance, and life-skills training while encouraging positive choices, cultural pride, and identity. The role includes individual and group support, community outreach, and advocacy, with a holistic focus on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being rooted in Indigenous values and traditions.
DUTIES:
Provide one-on-one mentorship and group support rooted in cultural values.
Facilitate life skills training including financial literacy, household skills, and traditional teachings.
Develop and deliver recreational, educational, and land-based programs.
Advocate for youth and connect them to culturally relevant resources.
Collaborate with families, Elders, schools, and community and department partners.
Maintain accurate documentation
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Strong communication, leadership, and crisis intervention skills.
Patience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
Knowledge of Sucker Creek First Nation culture, traditions, and language is a strong asset.
Clear Criminal Record, Vulnerable Sector, and Child Intervention checks.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain).
