LOCATION: North Bay

REFERENCE:

RATE OF PAY: $ $27.71/hour (Increases set out as per the collective agreement. Full rate

effective after 1 year of service)

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:

The Support Staff provides assistance to the Diesel Shop and Car Shop with handling and delivering material and parts, operating the forklift, and cleaning in a safe and efficient manner.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cleaning and washing duties
• Delivering parts
• Operating a forklift
• Sand and glass blasting
• Removing carpeting, tape and ty-rap
• Working with glue, seam sealer, paint stripper
• Tagging parts removed from equipment
• Adapts to new methods, processes, material and equipment
• Follows prescribed safety procedures including the use of safety clothing and equipment
• May work various shifts including weekends and some work outdoors in adverse weather
• May include performing preparatory work to coaches on the assembly line
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Current shift schedules are:
• Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Monday to Thursday 2:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
• Monday to Thursday 11:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Secondary School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
• Previous cleaning/labour experience
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written)
• Excellent organizational and planning skills
• Experience operating a forklift considered an asset
• Demonstrated ability to work in a unionized team environment
• Must be available for shift work
• Valid driver's license an asset
• Previous railway experience an asset
• Must be committed to Company Health and Safety
