The Business Analyst, EMR Specifications role is responsible for the development, support and ongoing evolution of OMD EMR Specifications. This role works with stakeholders to gather and develop technical and business requirements to advance EMRs for clinical practices at the point of care (e.g. EMR integrated provincial products and services).
**Working closely with the Manager, EMR Specifications, your responsibilities will include**:
- Support the ongoing updates and advancement of OMD’s EMR Specifications.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in the development (e.g., gather, scribe, review) of EMR requirements for EHR products and services (e.g., HRM, OLIS, DHDR).
- Develop and gather requirements that improve EMR data quality to advance the exchange of health data between different systems (e.g. EMRs, HIS).
- Prepares requirements documents including system design flows, sequence diagrams, UML or other modelling languages and diagrams.
- Liaise between clients and business partners to manage relationships and evolve requirements.
- Lead and/or support in the requirements development process (e.g., definition and analysis of requirements) to connect and integrate EMRs to provincial EHR solutions and services.
- Participate in project meetings to report on requirements development progress and for issues management.
- Support OMD’s Validation Team, where needed, to assist with validation scenarios, processes and activities in support of new specifications.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
**Requirements that are important to us**:
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of experience as a business analyst or business systems analyst in developing or managing requirements.
- Two or more years of experience working in the Ontario Healthcare IT sector, with emphasis on Community Care, EMR vendors and EMR products.
- Ability to clearly and concisely gather and translate business needs to document functional and non-functional requirements with strong attention to detail.
- Experience utilizing relevant digital health standards, including messaging and content standards (e.g., HL7 FHIR, XML, SNOMED-CT).
- Experience writing formal documents and business requirements.
- Knowledge of and experience with OMD EMR Specifications and EMR, EHR products and services.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining productive working relationships with internal/external stakeholders in complex, multi-stakeholder healthcare environments.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and planning process.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills; able to present to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively work independently and with a dynamic team.
