Supervisor - Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) Program
**Summary**
The CNC Supervisor is responsible for taking the lead in the planning, implementing and supervising CNC activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of children in the program in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures. The CNC Supervisor will assist CNC Employees, Volunteers and Students in their daily activities, will develop and implement programs and activities for children and promote a welcoming and positive environment. The CNC Supervisor will also assist the Director with the hiring process, employee performance reviews and with the development and monitoring of the CNC budget as required. The CNC Supervisor will build positive and respectful relationships with children and parents and ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained.
**Job Duties**
- Ensure program meets all CNC Requirements
- Plan, implement and supervise CNC activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of children in the program.
- Supervise and assist CNC Staff in: developing daily activity plans, providing nutritious snacks and lunches (if required), coordinating sleep and rest time, establishing acceptable disciplinary policies, and guiding/assisting children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits.
- Develop and implement programs and activities that are culturally appropriate in accordance with the program philosophy
- Provide input into activity planning and provide support and direction to CNC Staff regarding child development.
- Provide Parent Orientation, registration of children and staff orientation (parts I and II).
- Maintain all required records, forms and reports as required
- Manage CNC Staff' resources effectively to promote a positive team atmosphere.
- Maintain a welcoming, safe and healthy environment for children and their parents or caregivers.
- Regularly contact, liaise with and act as a resource for parents and caregivers; keeping parents informed of program expectations, program activities and their child’s progress.
- Discuss progress or problems of children with staff members in order to determine plans for improvement.
- Establish routines for children; providing them with positive guidance and building their esteem.
- Conduct staff meetings to discuss CNC initiatives, resolve issues and support professional development.
- Ensure that equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times.
- Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand.
- Ensure children are supervised at all time.
- Assist with the hiring process and make staffing recommendations.
- Assist with the development and monitoring of the CNC budget.
- Deliver ongoing coaching, mentoring, feedback and annual employee performance reviews.
- Maintain provincial standards and regulations and keep up to date with current CNC philosophy and other licensing and legislative requirements as necessary.
- Attend meetings and workshops to develop and discuss new teaching methods.
- Promote a positive image of the CNC program to the public.
- Inspect CNC space for safety issues and complete Space Safety Checklist as required
- Develop and maintain current, accurate and confidential client files.
- Be familiar with all Social Enterprises forCanada emergency procedures.
- Other duties shall be assigned as required.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Early Childhood Education Diploma.
- Current Registration with the College of ECE (RECE)
- 2 years of experience in a Supervisory position.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
- Recent Vulnerable Sector Screen,
- Valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation.
- All immunizations up to date including Tuberculosis (TB) test
- An understanding of settlement issues and the distinctive needs of newcomer children and families.
- Knowledge of research and practices specific to young children, including special initiatives relevant to immigrants and refugees, as well as an ability to implement programming and make changes that are beneficial to young newcomers.
- Proven ability to successfully work with children and their parents in a sensitive, effective and professional manner.
- Strong working knowledge of child development theories and practices.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures to ensure that children are supervised and safe at all times.
- Demonstrated ability to create safe and appropriate activities for children.
- Good organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
- Strong morals and ethics, sound judgement and reasoning skills, along with a commitment to discretion and staff privacy.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
