Computer Instructor

**Job Summary**:
Applications are now being accepted for a Computer Instructor position with City Centre Community Association. Reporting to the Youth Development Coordinator, this position is responsible for the leadership and planning of computer-based programs within a recreation and cultural services setting.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Plan, implement and deliver appropriate computer lesson plans that are creative, flexible and adaptable.
- Provide a safe, positive well-managed learning environment.
**CUSTOMER SERVICE/COMMUNICATION**:
- Be a positive role model for the participants.
- Greet parents at the beginning and end of each class and discuss program information.
- Communicate with supervisor, other staff and volunteers.
**SAFETY/RISK MANAGEMENT**:
- Follow Community Centre Associations protocol for emergency situations.
- Ensure the safety of all individuals participating.
- Ensure attendance procedures are followed.
- Complete incident and/or accident reports in a timely manner.
- Ensure the physical and emotional environment is safe for participants.
**ADMINISTRATIVE**:
- Provide program plans, evaluation and feedback to supervisor regarding program content.
- Program plans suitable for preteens/youth and related to the theme of the class.
- Responsible to document and report child abuse to supervisor.
- Clean and maintain room equipment. Set up and take down equipment and supplies are required.
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:
- 1 year teaching/volunteer experience in a computer instruction setting.
- Knowledge of scratch coding, animation, typing and other such related computer instruction topics.
- Previous experience working with children, preteen and youths.
- Emergency Child Care First Aid or Standard First Aid and CPR Level B (or higher).
- Police Information Check.
**DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Currently enrolled in or completion of Computer Science or other post-secondary related degree program.
- Second language.
Duties may be carried out in a City-owned facility, however, the City is not the Employer for this position.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $19.29-$29.44 per hour
Expected hours: 2 - 5 per week
