Position/Term: Program Coordinator for the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy Employment Program (YESS)
Service Canada

Location: Sarnia

Start Date: ASAP

Qualifications & Experience:

Post-secondary education preferably in Employment/Career Counselling, Adult Education, Human
Resources, Social Services, or combination of education and relevant work experience

Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
Strong organizational and planning skills
Knowledge of second language
Current First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.

Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is a condition of
employment for all staff and volunteers.

It is a YMCA of Southwestern Ontario requirement that all employees and volunteers be fully vaccinated
against COVID-19. Exemptions will be granted upon receipt of acceptable proof of a permissible Human
Rights Code ground.

Schedule:

Full-Time Contract, 40 hours/week, Mondays to Fridays, 8:30 am-5 pm on site and virtual delivery.
Travel 2-3X off-site for promotion of program school boards, community partners and youth

organizations.

Responsibilities:
YMCA of Southwestern Ontario policy and procedures
Act as a YMCA ambassador, demonstrating YMCA core values in your daily work.
The Program Coordinator, Youth Employment and Skills Strategies (YESS) for Newcomer youth is responsible

for networking with the local employer community and community/employment services partners, school
boards, youth organizations, to assist at risk Newcomer youth who have little or no labour force attachment
to obtain employment or self-employment, and to develop the skills necessary to maintain that new
employment. The Program Coordinator is part of the YESS team with a mandate to enhance the economic
and social well-being of persons with various employment barriers, their families and communities by helping
them improve their employability, by increasing and facilitating access to job opportunities and ultimately by
enabling their labour market integration.

Provide strategic direction and daily oversight of the Settlement Advisor-Employment, prepare all

departmental reports and documentation

Oversee administrative services and financial control relative to the program

Act as a liaison with other service providers, stakeholders, school boards and employers locally

Provide support/supervision to the Settlement Advisor-Employment, to provide access to programming for
Newcomer Youth between the ages of 15-30 years old that will allow them to acquire the skills, learning
experience and opportunities they need to find and maintain employment or return to (or remain in) school.
