Overview:
Reporting to the General Manager or their designate, the
**Curling Manager** is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the 8-sheet curling centre including all leagues, bonspiels and special events creating a positive, fun environment. They will oversee all aspects of its operation including the marketing, programming, and staffing of the facility. This role encompasses a high level of responsibility including highly confidential matters such as contract negotiations, human resource matters including discipline, financial planning, development of annual business plan, event settlements and annual budgeting. They will work in partnership and in collaboration with other departments at the Moose Jaw Events Centre to ensure proper communication and execution of the activities. Further, you will create a sales deck and sell and execute all advertising and sponsorships

This role will pay a wage of $45,000 to $55,000.

About the Venue:
Located in southwestern Saskatchewan, Moose Jaw Events Centre is a 210,000 square foot facility featuring an entertainment/sports bowl, an 8 sheet curling club, multiple meeting areas including a large banquet room plus three smaller break-out rooms. Bowl seating is 4,465 for hockey spectators and 5000+ for events & concerts.

**Responsibilities**:
Curling
- Knowledge of the Sport of Curling, including progressive, round robin and other draws
- Plan, organize, coordinate and execute all curling leagues including schedules and playoffs; as well as all club bonspiels and curling events
- Work with CurlSask when hosting sanctioned events
- Liaison between venue and Curl MJ
- Support and assist to execute Curl Moose Jaw initiatives
- Develop and Instruct adult and youth Learn to Curl programs
- Seek initiative to grow Club membership and participation

Business
- Manage the Club efficiently and effectively
- Assist with management/control of fiscal budget for curling
- Responsible for Curling A/R and A/P; working in collaboration with the Finance Department
- Utilizing Curling IO for all registrations, league fees, and in house bonspiels
- Responsible for collection of league fees and bonspiel entry fees
- Develop new sources of revenue, building on our curling operations, or other uses of our facility in co-operation with the MJEC Event Manager
- Knowledge of Technician work schedule based on daily demands and curling schedule

Marketing
- Develop and implement the Marketing and Sales Plan in partnership with the MJEC Director of Marketing and Business Development
- Knowledge and experience with social media - Facebook, Instagram, Twitter,
- Establish a membership communication strategy
- Develop member satisfaction monitoring systems and ensure issues are addressed quickly
- Manage all information being communicated to the curling community, exercising confidentiality and integrity upon handling personal and financial customer information

Sales and Sponsorship
- Create a rate card/ inventory of sellable assets in partnership with the MJEC Director of Marketing and Business Development
- Meet with prospective sponsors and advertisers to sell advertising and sponsorship
- Create contracts for partners
- Execute all advertising and sponsorship opportunities and deliverables
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants and event sponsors.
- Management of all aspects of customer service as it relates to both internal and external, and building tenants, enforcing GREAT principles and corporate initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- A minimum of 3 years managing a curling/sporting facility, preferably in a management capacity
- Proven record of success within curling or sport business operation
- The equivalent combination of education and experience
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in business, recreation or a related area is an asset
