Intern - Cannabis Cultivation

As an intern, you will work closely with our experienced growers, learning and contributing to the cultivation of high-quality cannabis plants. This internship will provide you with comprehensive knowledge of cultivation processes, Canadian Cannabis Regulations, and the science behind successful cannabis production.

**Responsibilities of Cultivation Interns**:

- Assist in the trimming and maintenance of cannabis plants throughout their growth cycle.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of cultivation areas, equipment, and workstations.
- Monitor and implement integrated pest management practices to ensure plant health.
- Handle concentrated materials and agronomic inputs safely and responsibly.
- Participate in vegetative propagation and the care of cuttings and seedlings.
- Contribute to research projects and assist in data collection.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of cultivation activities.
- Calibrate and maintain equipment necessary for cultivation and sanitation tasks.
- Collaborate with the processing team for the production and packaging of cannabis products.
- Foster a collaborative work environment by working closely with team members from various departments.
- Demonstrates an authentic and deep passion for cannabis cultivation, plants, horticulture, and/or agriculture.
- Exhibits a strong eagerness to learn and acquire new skills and knowledge in the field.
- Displays meticulous attention to detail and exceptional problem-solving abilities.

**Requirements**:

- Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution, pursuing a degree in a related scientific field (biology, botany, chemistry, horticulture, agriculture, etc.).
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have been granted refugee status to qualify for internship funding.
- Local to the Edmonton area or possess reliable transportation for commuting.
- Comfortable working in warm and humid cultivation spaces with bright lights, while wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
- Capable of performing physical activities and/or repetitive movements throughout shifts.
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs (22kg).
- Comfortable with squatting, bending, and kneeling while utilizing tools and performing cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Willing to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, including but not limited to sanitary clothing covers, gloves, mask, respirator, and/or eye protection.
- Fully vaccinated against Covid-19, with proof of vaccination.

**Hours**: 40 hours per week until September. Part-time opportunities for the fall term may be available.

**Shifts**: a typical shift is 9:00-5:30 5 days/week. Early of late shifts may be accommodated. Shifts options may be one of the following:

- Monday to Friday
- Sunday to Thursday
- Tuesday to Saturday

Hours and shifts are flexible. We will also work around your school schedule when school begins in the fall.

Contract length: 4 months
Part-time hours: 40 per week

**Salary**: From $15.00 per hour
