As a **Shovel Operator,** your primary responsibility is to operate and maneuver heavy-duty shovel equipment efficiently and safely. This includes understanding the controls, ensuring proper maintenance, and adhering to operational guidelines to facilitate the movement of materials.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Execute precise and controlled material handling tasks using the shovel. This involves loading, unloading, and relocating various materials such as soil, rocks, or debris.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines while operating the shovel. This includes conducting pre-operation checks, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining awareness of the environment to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of yourself and others on the worksite.
- Effectively communicate with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure a smooth workflow. This involves conveying information about material quantities, equipment status, and any potential issues that may arise during the operation of the shovel.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on the shovel equipment to ensure its optimal performance. This includes greasing moving parts, inspecting hydraulic systems, and reporting any mechanical issues promptly. Keeping the equipment in good working condition contributes to a more efficient and safe working environment.

**Requirements**:

- 3-5 years experience operating a shovel on a Sewer crew is required
- Valid drivers license and own transportation is required
- Working hours may require some weekend and evening shifts
