Nature of the Work
- The principal and customary work of the employee in this employment class consists in assisting disabled students in their participation in the courses or in other activities. The employee assists the disabled students in their movements, provides them with the assistance required by their condition and ensures their well-being.**Responsibilities**:
- Accompany students to and from classes or other areas of the college.
- Assist in personal care (toileting, feeding).
- Provide in class support.
- Provide note taking and homework assistance.
- Act as an exam invigilator.
- Scan and edit various documents for use by the students.
- Assist in general tasks when required.
- Performs other related duties.

Note: Guide dogs are commonly used by our students and are in the Centre on a regular basis.**Requirements**:

- Qualifications
- To have a diploma of vocational studies (DEP) with appropriate specialty or a secondary school diploma (DES) or have a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority and have at least one (1) year of pertinent experience.
- Conditions- Experience in manipulating and transferring individuals to and from wheelchairs.
- Experience in personal care.
- Experience in working with individuals with various disabilities.
- Advanced oral and written English communication skills (testing may be required)
- Basic French communication skills (testing may be required)
- Basic Word and Excel (testing may be required)
- Ability to learn specialized software, an asset
