**Position Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Lead and Manage the Purchasing Team**: Supervise, mentor, and develop the purchasing team to ensure high performance, collaboration, and alignment with business objectives.
- **Procurement Strategy Development**: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement the company's procurement strategy, ensuring it aligns with Southland Trailers' overall goals and objectives.
- **Supplier Negotiations and Management**: Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers and vendors. Manage relationships with existing suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and continued partnership.
- **Cost Management**: Monitor and control procurement budgets, implementing cost-saving strategies and identifying opportunities for efficiencies across the supply chain.
- **Purchasing and Inventory Control**: Oversee the purchasing process, ensuring that all materials and supplies are acquired in a timely and cost-effective manner. Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet production needs while minimizing excess stock.
- **Compliance and Risk Management**: Ensure procurement practices adhere to company policies and relevant regulations. Assess risks in supply chains and develop mitigation plans to ensure continuity of supply.
- **Collaboration with Internal Teams**: Work closely with production, operations, and finance teams to forecast demand, resolve supply issues, and improve procurement processes.
- **Reporting and Analysis**: Prepare and present procurement reports to management, analyzing trends, supplier performance, and purchasing data to make informed decisions.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in procurement and supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role overseeing a purchasing team.
- Experience in manufacturing would be an asset.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to establish and maintain vendor relationships.
- Solid understanding of procurement best practices, inventory management, and cost-saving strategies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with vendor management practices and relationship-building techniques.
- Proficient in using MRP systems.
