The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Research & Development, the R&D Data Analyst will utilize their expertise and passion for data visualization and user experience to streamline, optimize, and innovate analytical interfaces that are easily absorbed, heavily adopted, and drive high quality decision making across the business.

What you will be doing
- Lead the implementation of data initiatives in support of the overall function strategy
- Design, develop and optimize cloud-based data processing pipelines into robust and scalable data processing functionality
- Improve performance and scalability of the data pipelines, as well as research, measure and improve performance of the core ETL implementation
- Validate the quality and integrity of the data included in all reporting
- Work with challenging and complex problems, sometimes requiring algorithmic / data structure research
- Work with stakeholders - data scientists, GIS engineers and project teams to assist with data related issues and support their data needs
- Support in designing database tables, datatypes, stored procedures, functions, views etc.
- Transform raw data into meaningful, actionable information and present complex data in a manner that will help guide strategic and operational decisions
- Prepare and develop templates, reports, dashboards, and analysis. Create data visualization that helps make faster and better decisions utilizing existing data infrastructure, localized DataMart, and external data sources
- Develop substantial and insightful commentary on new and existing reporting packages
- Contribute to shaping the BI strategy roadmap by recommending modern techniques and tools, researched through industry leading practices

What you will bring
- Master’s degree, ideally in a discipline such as (Business Analytics / Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Applied Science/ Engineering, or related area)
- Professional with 2-3 years’ experience as a data analyst working with large and complex datasets
- Experience creating custom data visualizations and data experiences using modern tools (Tableau, Power BI, Amazon QuickSight)
- Ability to lead the design process from ideation to polished design, using sketches, wireframes, UX scenarios and mockups to present ideas
- Experience developing solutions using Cloud technologies; Knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, etc.), Certification in AWS Cloud preferred
- Providing scalable solutions for handling large data volumes, complex, and interactive reporting
- Knowledge of, and experience with relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL etc.)
- Highly experienced in MS Office tools. You are advanced in Excel (advanced formulas and functions, VBA, pivot tables, power queries), skilled in creating presentations in PowerPoint, and can write high-quality reports
- Strong attention to detail, superior communication, and time-management skills
- Quick learner, ability to work well in a team, and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and work on simultaneous projects under tight deadlines
