Currently, we have vacancies at our Surrey Distribution Centre. This is a warehouse setting with a focus on logistics, customer service, and high paced execution.
**Duties of the Position**:
- Supervise a crew of 15-30 material handlers
- Monitor safe operating procedures to ensure all work is being done in a safe manner
- Work with other warehouse supervisors on providing a safe working environment for all employees, following all organizational health & safety procedures
- Accomplishes department objectives by supervising staff and organizing and monitoring work processes
- Assign duties and monitor productivity to meet daily shipping requirements
- Train and rotate employees in different areas to maintain a flexible workforce
- Working within a collective agreement to guide employees and correct improper behaviours
- Coordinate with other shifts and departments to meet company objectives
- Effectively administer payroll and timekeeping
- Take the lead in an emergency or unforeseen situations
- Lead and participate in health & safety investigations
- Ensure the facility and product are secure
- lock/unlock gates and building, set alarms
- Other duties assigned by the Operations Manager or as required from time to time as dictated by the changing needs of the business
**Desirable Skills**:
- Supervisory experience in a union environment
- General computer skills
- Outlook, Word, Excel
- Time management skills
- Accurate record-keeping
- Self-starter
- Problem-solving ability
- Good interpersonal skills combined with clear communication skills
- Punctuality and reliability
- Flexibility to work various shifts/hours as needed
- Good organization skills combined with the ability to multi-task
- Desire to learn and develop in the role
