We currently have an opportunity for a **Full-time or Part-time Child and Youth Workers **in our Live in Treatment program in Barrie.
Reporting to the Operational Supervisor, Live-in-Treatment, the Child and Youth Worker (CYW) works as part of an interdisciplinary team delivering direct services to clients with mental health needs. The CYW is responsible for providing a safe and therapeutic environment in which individual client goals are actualized. All Kinark employees share the responsibility of workplace health and safety and the prevention of workplace hazards. Every employee must protect their own health and safety by working in compliance with the law and with safe work practices and procedures.
In addition, it is important that the CYW develops and maintains therapeutic relationships with clients, families and guardians and is adept at modeling positive social and problem solving skills, and skilled at behaviour management. This position is covered by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) Local 355 group. The position will be scheduled to meet program needs as per the Collective Agreement.
**Qualifications**:
- Child and Youth Worker diploma plus at least one year related experience
- Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and administrative skills
- Current valid Standard First Aid/CPR Level C certificate
- Training in Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour
- Understanding group dynamics and strong skills in group and individual counselling
- Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license
**Kinark Child and Family Services conditions of employment include but are not limited to successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, completed Pre-Employment Medical certificate, and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. **Fully vaccinated is defined as having received all required doses of a World Health Organization Approved COVID-19 Vaccine at least one of which being approved for use in Canada and 14 days have passed since your last dose. Proof of vaccination for each vaccine dose received is required.
