As we serve vulnerable youth, all employees working for Covenant House Vancouver must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required prior to your start date.
**About Covenant House Vancouver**:
Since 1997, Covenant House Vancouver has provided relentless support for youth experiencing, or at-risk of experiencing, homelessness. We provide support to young people age 16 to 24 who have experienced a wide range of early life and ongoing, complex trauma; including physical, sexual and emotional abuse and neglect. Our purpose is to serve all youth, with absolute respect and unconditional love, to help youth experiencing homelessness, and provide a safe and supportive environment for all youth in need.
Working at Covenant House will be one of the most meaningful things that you’ll do in your life. However, you will be confronted with significant issues in this work and frankly, this work is not for everyone. In the course of doing your work, particularly for those doing frontline work, you will be exposed to the trauma of others. The youth we serve may also experience overdose, physical harm perpetuated by self or others and even death. Because we provide a relational model of care, the harms our youth experience can impact us in varying degrees.
We will provide more information on vicarious trauma during recruiting and on-boarding, to help you decide if Covenant House is the place for you.
**The Impact the Manager, Corporate, Foundation & Community Giving can make**:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Philanthropy, you will lead the creation and implementation of CHV’s fundraising strategy to meet financial goals for the Corporate, Foundation & Community portfolios. As CHV is 85% privately funded, fundraising plays a vital role in the organization’s ability to serve youth 24/7.
You will coach and manage a team of five Philanthropy Officers/Senior Philanthropy Officers, manage a portfolio of major donors, and contribute to the leadership and culture of the larger Philanthropy team.
**How you will contribute**:

- Lead the Corporate, Foundations, and Community Giving team to raise $4M+ per year collectively. Your team will be composed of:
- Three Philanthropy Officers, Corporate & Foundation Giving, who work with major and mid-level donors
- Two Philanthropy Officers, Community Giving, who work with service clubs, community groups, corporate organizations, schools and students, and third-party event organizers, and manage our online DIY fundraising platform
- Lead weekly team meetings and bi-weekly one-on-one supervisory meetings with your team, providing tailored coaching and mentorship to each team member, and encouraging collaboration, professional development, and continuous performance improvement
- Work with team members to strategize on securing major gifts from key donors and prospects, including advising on next steps, proposals, and stewardship
- Liaise with the Prospect Development team to support the cultivation and advancement of relationships between Philanthropy Officers and their donors
- Perform supervisory functions including timesheet management, hiring, new employee training, time-off requests, office phone coverage, and performance evaluations
Major Gift Fundraising
- Manage a portfolio of 30 to 50 existing and prospective major donors ($25K+), by building relationships and ensuring donors’ interests and passions are met with current and future giving opportunities
- Act as an ambassador and advocate for Covenant House Vancouver in the community
- Create opportunities for engagement for major and annual giving donors that are compelling, engaging, transparent, timely and long-term
- Create customized presentations, written proposals, and reports as required
Strategic Leadership & Project Management
- Provide input into the development of the department’s goals, objectives, policies, long-range planning, and strategies for future development
- Oversee the Corporation, Foundation & Community Giving team’s revenue forecasting and reporting
- Lead various projects including donor gatherings, mass donor communications, developing procedures/policies, and incorporating change management best practices
- Collaborate with other Philanthropy managers to lead the larger team of Philanthropy Officers, Coordinators, and Associates
- Liaise and collaborate with colleagues across the agency to learn about internal programs and help create solutions to challenges that arise
- Assist in the development and implementation of annual fundraising goals, plans, and strategies for the Philanthropy team
