**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager, Experience, the Consultant, Experience, is responsible for ensuring that effective processes are in place for meaningful engagement with patients, clients and families, clinical and non-clinical staff in health and health care planning, policy, program development and quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving experience for patients, families and all those working within Island Health. The Consultant enables implementation and continuous improvement of the Experience strategy across Island Health, and integral part of Island Health's strategic goals.
The Consultant collaborates and communicates with local and organization-wide clinical, non-clinical and leadership teams to support their engagement in the cultural change described in the Experience strategy. The Consultant focuses on the individual, organization and system levels of engagement within core principles of patient and family centred care and improvement of workplace culture. The Consultant works in collaboration with the Workplace Culture Council, the Patient Advisory Council, patient partners, and the other team members within the Experience program. The Consultant supports building the Experience program into a robust support system that enables an exemplary experience for patients and families, staff, physicians, volunteers and community members.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, and seven (7) years' recent related experience in a complex health care environment including education, quality, experience, project management and leadership experience.
Valid BC Driver's License.
**Skills And Abilities**:
- Advanced ability to lead and facilitate discussions with leaders, staff, physicians, volunteers and patients.
- Understanding of experience factors in healthcare and the impact on outcomes, clinical practice and patient, staff, physician, and volunteer experience.
- Knowledge of the IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation.
- Demonstrated consulting, coaching and facilitation skills.
- Commitment to client service, teamwork and collaboration.
- Advanced competency in project/program implementation, management and evaluation.
- Ability to lead organizational change and build collaborative relationships both internally and externally.
- Ability to interpret and communicate patient and staff experience metrics and develop and evaluate audit tools that provide meaningful feedback to teams and leaders.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to sensitively deal with complex situations.
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to support policy standards development.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, assess priorities and utilize resources effectively.
