To compliment our program, we are looking for someone to assist in the daily operation of the Day Centre during the summer months. The successful summer youth will assist to engage seniors in daily activities including but not limited to; exercise, meal preparation, cognitive therapies and activity based therapy. Clients of the Adult Day Centre are frail and elderly seniors.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist staff with set up of program area for morning activities
- Welcome clients as they come in, assist them to hang their coats and if needed direct clients to a seat
- Provide assistance with the morning snack (coffee, tea, juice, toast, etc.)
- Assist with the morning programs, monitor clients and help as required.
- Sanitize, prepare the tables and chairs for lunchtime
- Assist clients, as required when moving between program areas
- Support staff and clients as required during mealtime
- Assist with clean-up before and after lunch
- Assist with set-up of afternoon program
- Assist clients with preparation to leave the center in the afternoon
- Assist with cleanup and storage of program materials
- Assist staff in the kitchen when needed
- As required, assist with office duties and administration
- Other duties as assigned appropriate to the scope of the position
- Follow ADC rules and regulations

**Qualifications**:

- Currently enrolled as a full-time student and returning to school as a full-time student in September
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Good Problem solving
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Sensitivity and awareness of cultural, racial, economic and socially diverse communities
- Second language an asset

**As this role is being funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program, the following are eligibility requirements**:

- You are between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
- You are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (foreign students are not eligible)
- You are legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
- You have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
