Physiotherapy Assistant

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) to join our growing team. Reporting to the Registered Physiotherapists, the Physiotherapy Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of patient care by implementing treatment plans, preparing patients for therapy, maintaining a clean and organized clinic environment, and providing exceptional customer service. **Responsibilities**:
- Under the direct supervision of a Registered Physiotherapist, the PTA will assist with the implementation of individualized treatment plans, including therapeutic exercises and modalities (e.g., ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat/cold therapy).
- Prepare patients for treatment by explaining procedures, positioning them appropriately, and ensuring their comfort.
- Instruct patients on home exercise programs and provide clear and concise instructions.
- Monitor patient progress during treatment and report any observations or concerns to the supervising Physiotherapist.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with clinic policies and professional standards.
- Prepare and clean treatment areas and equipment, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
- Manage inventory of supplies and equipment, and assist with ordering as needed.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and processing payments.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Adhere to all clinic policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training as required.
- Other duties as assigned by the Clinic Director or Registered Physiotherapists.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a recognized Physiotherapist Assistant and/or Occupational Therapist Assistant (PTA/OTA) diploma program.
- CPR and First Aid certification is am asset but not required.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic exercise principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems is an asset.
- Experience in an outpatient physiotherapy setting is preferred.
- A genuine interest in health and wellness and a desire to help others.
