**Job Description**:
***: Under the general direction of the Supervisor - Budgets & Capital Programs, assists in budget preparation and analysis, monitors and evaluates process re-engineering, automates and co-ordinates benchmarking performance measurement activities, and assists in strategic business planning for the Department.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assists in the preparation of the Department’s operating and capital budgets. Assist with the analysis of actual results to budget, identifies any deviations, and recommends corrective actions.
- Interfaces between the Supervisor and Division Managers/Supervisors for budget preparation, variance reporting and control.
- Conducts operational reviews and feasibility studies in consultation with the Supervisor and Division Managers/Supervisors.
- Initiates, monitors and evaluates re-engineering activities in the Department and is accountable for processes designed to move the Department towards optimizing the use of best business practices and automated solutions to business problems.
- Automates and co-ordinates benchmarking performance measurement and strategic business planning activities.
- Conducts research, and prepares reports, background material and briefing notes.
- Assists with seeking outside funding opportunities, and with the preparation of any reports on outcomes for funding received.
- Provides advice on the development of in-house policies, special project requests, procedural changes and administrative and operating systems.
- Ensures confidentiality of sensitive labour relations material used within the department.
- Participates in the training of staff.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:

- Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting; and
- One to three years’ experience in accounting

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Must have the demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and to work independently under time constraints and changing deadlines;
- Demonstrated skill in communication, both written and oral is essential;
- Must possess superior analytical, multi-tasking, organizational, customer service and teamwork skills;
- Must be proficient in the use of computers and current related software

**Assets**:

- Experience in SAP and FMW is an asset.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
- May be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
