Support Worker

**Local Applicants ONLY**

We are looking for a person to help care for our 30 year old son with a seizure disorder and intellectual disability. He needs one on one supervision and support daily, 7 days a week. Care is provided in the client’s home.

We need someone available weekends and holidays on a casual basis from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm for day shifts and evenings from 3 pm - 9 pm.

Shifts are flexible. We can accommodate your work life balance. We have one opening for a casual staff person.

**Duties**:

- Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming
- Administer medications as prescribed twice a day
- Provide medical support during a seizure
- Assist with meal preparation
- Perform light housekeeping duties
- Provide companionship to client
- take client on outings (to day program, to play basketball, to do outside activities)
- Accompany clients to Dr appointments

**Requirements**:

- Experience in caregiving, support work or a related field is preferred (DSW, PSW, nursing, childcare, ECE, RPN, behavioural science, social service worker)
- Knowledge of assisted living, nursing homes, or home care is a plus
- Must have a vehicle and 2 million liability insurance and G class license
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Strong communication skills in English
- The genuine desire to help others
- Must pass police background checks
- Must like animals. Two cats and two dogs live in the home. Not ideal for staff with allergies

We offer competitive pay rates and flexible scheduling options for Support Workers

Staff paid $26 a hour, payment is once monthly. Start date October 1, 2024
