This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 4 October 2024 and closing at 11:59 pm on 11 October 2024.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Materials Handler, reporting to the Emergency Manager is responsible for: performing the count function for all supply cart areas according to a defined schedule; receiving and replenishing stock on the supply cart from various supply areas; receiving capital equipment and non-stock supplies and distributing throughout the hospital, maintaining supply carts, managing stocking requirements, coordinating returns and credits, communicating supply issues, i.e. back orders/substitutions; picking warehouse products as required; and performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Previous Materials Management experience with exposure to purchasing and physical Logistics, an asset;
- Demonstrated ability to work as a strong team member with excellent interpersonal and communication skills for a client and family focused environment;
- Proven effective organizational, prioritization and time management skills;
- Proven knowledge of WHMIS and Infection Control policies/procedures;
- Demonstrated ability to work with mínimal supervision and to demonstrate initiative;
- Physically capable of reaching, pulling/pushing carts, bending, walking extensively, lifting, carrying throughout the shift to accomplish tasks;
- Proven ability to work productively in a busy environment with many interruptions and distractions;
- Knowledge of hospital purchasing processes and receiving, an asset;
- Knowledge of materials management Meditech, preferred;

- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education sessions

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
