**YOUR ROLE WITH BEACON**:
Reporting to the SHOAL Manager, the Food Service Worker joins the hospitality team performing a variety of food service duties and assists kitchen staff as needed. The Food Service Worker is responsible for providing excellent customer and food service in the dining room. The Food Service Worker ensures an enjoyable dining experience for the residents at the SHOAL Centre and community patrons.

**PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Maintain a safe and supportive work environment for volunteers, members, residents, and community members
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Setting up dining areas, delivering and putting away supplies, taking meal orders and serving food and beverages
- Accepts payment for meals and/or initials Dinner and/or Lunch meal cards
- Performs limited food preparation and makes tea and coffee
- Washes dishes using commercial dishwasher and/or by hand
- Performs cleaning duties such as sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning sinks and counters, cleaning kitchen and storage areas and removing garbage
- Maintains cleanliness and order in walk in cooler and freezer. Checks the temperature and alerts Manager if not in the proper range.
- Stores and checks supply and performs inventory control including rotation and expiry checks
- Performs other related duties as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent experience
- WHMIS Certificate
- Serving it Right (completion upon hiring)
- Food Safe Certification (completion upon hiring and renewed every 3 years)
- First Aid and CPR certification an asset

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Experience in a customer service environment
- Experience within a senior’s facility or experience in a related setting is an asset
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with residents, families, co-workers, members of the multi-disciplinary team and the public
- Ability to organize work and implement in a timely manner
